Cecile Richards, who was named to the 2011 TIME 100, is the president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America and Planned Parenthood Action Fund. She has also served as deputy chief of staff for House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi. In 2004, Richards, who is the daughter of former Texas Governor Ann Richards, founded and served as president of America Votes, a coalition of 42 national grassroots organizations, working to maximize registration, education, and voter participation nationwide. She is a frequent commentator on women’s rights, reproductive health and sex education, and serves on the board of the Ford Foundation.
