Michelle Alexander is a civil rights lawyer, advocate and legal scholar. She was the director of the Racial Justice Project at the ACLU of Northern California and the Civil Rights Clinic at Stanford University Law School. Alexander has appeared as a commentator on CNN and MSNBC, and she is a graduate of Stanford Law School and Vanderbilt University. Her book The New Jim Crow was published in February 2010.
