Rula Jebreal

Rula Jebreal is an Italo-Palestinian journalist, novelist and screenwriter who was raised in East Jerusalem and later studied journalism and political science in Italy. She has written for a number of Italian newspapers focusing on foreign affairs related to the Arab-Israeli conflict and the uprising of Islamic movements. In 2000, Jebreal became an on-air reporter, and later was the first foreign anchorwoman in the history of Italian television to broadcast the evening news. She has written three books, including Miral, for which she also wrote a screenplay. Jebreal speaks Italian, English, Arabic and Hebrew. She lives in New York City, where she is working on her fourth book.
