Don’t Blame Police for Jaime Gonzalez

The police are not psychics. They cannot tell if it's a real gun, a fake or a pellet gun.

In regards to Christopher J. Ferguson’s piece “Eighth-Grader Killed By Police: What Went Wrong”: Realistically, the kid went wrong. Justified force was used against a potentially imminent death-dealing situation. The police are not psychics. They cannot tell if it’s a real gun, a fake or pellet gun. There is no time to make a determination when it is aimed at you. They shoot to cease the threat. Maybe the parents should have raised their son with a little more discipline and respect for others. Maybe they should have instilled a little responsibility so he understood that bringing any kind of gun to school is not the thing to do. I am tired of these misunderstood kids who wreak havoc and harm on others. Then we make excuses for them.
