The great American writer and philosopher Henry David Thoreau once said, “If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” I believe this statement captures the heart of the American Dream. Throughout our history, many have advanced toward this dream in order to establish “a more perfect union.” It has been supported by many thinkers of the past, from the Founding Fathers to the American Realists, and will forever remain an integral component of our existence as American citizens.
