Lisa Jackson began her career at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a staff-level scientist in 1987. In 2002, Jackson joined the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and was appointed commissioner there in 2006. President Obama nominated Jackson for the cabinet position of EPA Administrator in 2008. As Administrator, Jackson has made it a priority to take action on climate change, improving air quality, protecting the country’s waters and assuring the safety of chemicals. Jackson has twice been named to the TIME 100.
