American Protestations

What does antiglobalization mean?

The Top 10 American Protest Movements slideshow is a great rundown of social movements in American history. However, I object to the usage of the phrase “antiglobalization movement” [in describing protests against the WTO in Seattle in 1999.] There is nothing in this movement that is against globalization. It is simply against expanding the rights of investors without expanding the rights of labor or the environment. The people in this movement want fair trade, exchange of cultures, goods and information across the globe. They just want it done in a fair and just way. That is not antiglobalization.
