Branch Davidian leader David Koresh was buried more than a month after he died of a gunshot wound to the head, inflicted during the 1993 standoff with federal agents in Waco, Texas. (Nearly 80 other people were also killed during the siege and resulting inferno.) Only a few family members attended the quiet burial ceremony, which featured prayers and biblical readings but no clergy. Koresh’s grave at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tyler, Texas, was initially reported as unmarked, although more recent photos of the site show a metal and granite marker.
