Preacher Jim Jones died of a bullet to the head (it’s not clear who shot him) after orchestrating the 1978 mass suicide of more than 900 followers in Jonestown, Guyana. His remains were flown to the Dover Air Base for identification, then taken to a Dover-area funeral home, where they were cremated. They were later sprinkled over the Atlantic Ocean.
