Term invented by The View host Whoopi Goldberg in an apparent effort to prove that liberals can be just as bad as conservatives when kicking a rape victim when she’s down. Goldberg, defending director Roman Polanski’s refusal to be turned over to US authorities for sentencing on a 1977 statutory rape charge, said, “I know it wasn’t rape-rape. It was something else but I don’t believe it was rape-rape.” In truth, Polanski had pled down to statutory rape but was initially charged with just plain ol’ rape because it was alleged that the victim refused him and he drugged her into submission.
